I don’t know about you but when I’m on holiday I want a quiet beach and the nearest flea market or boot sale. In Cornwall, I found both. You can’t get a better beach view than the castle of St. Michael’s Mount in Marazion. I made friends with the locals and discovered the weekly boot sale at the Rosudgeon Sports Club outside Penzance. It happens every Wednesday morning from April – October.
It draws a big, lively crowd of mostly locals. It’s off-the-beaten-path so you won’t see many tourists. Of course, there are car boots with piles of trashy old clothing laid on top of the grass but just walk beyond them into a field of dreams.
Start early in the morning and have a coffee at one of the many espresso vans on site. If you stay long enough, grab a pastie and have a sitdown for lunch.
The Rosudgeon Car Boot Sale is a great, free flea market find and the perfect day out, just off-the-beaten path from Penzance and Marazion.
GETTING THERE: From Marazion or Penzance, take the U4 Bus straight to Rosudgeon. The bus stops just outside the field, in front of the Falmouh Packet Inn. A short walk through the bushes and you’re there.
