Sal De Riso pasticceriaWhen it comes to sweet treats, Italians known their pastries.  For the Napoletani, it is sfogliatelle, caprese cake and babà al rhum and those along the Amalfi Coast head to Sal de Riso Pasticceria (Via Roma 80, Minori, Salerno) for dolci heaven.

This is a feast for the eyes as  much for the stomach.  The little waterfront cafe in Minori is a wonder of tortes, gelati, even specialty honeys and liqueurs.  There’s even a chocolate mousse Sal De Riso dolcesprayed with real gold!  I didn’t know where to look first or what to taste first.  The answer was simple – one for now and one for take away.  We split a deliciously rich chocolate cake and a light pear dessert, capped off with the perfect caffè freddo.  When it was time to leave, my takeaway sfogliatella was wrapped like a gift, complete with gold carrying handle!  Sweet!

Sal’s serves light cafe lunches and it’s the perfect spot to sit and loll the day away.   Grab a table, sit back and relax.  The waves are within reach and when it gets too hot, just toss open the sunbrellas.  Tutto perfetto!
