Destination Weddings in Italy – Photo Perfect!

Every bride wants the focus to be on her for her wedding day, yet when your destination wedding is in Italy, you will share the stage with more than 2,000 years of wondrous history and magnificent scenery.  So, it’s best to work with a destination wedding photographer who knows how to make the couple shine among the most beautiful backdrops the world has to offer.

Tuscany wedding photographer Rochelle CheeverItalian-American born photographer, Rochelle Cheever, now calls Rome home and it is her intimate knowledge of Italy and its beauty and culture which she adds to a bride’s special day.  She can capture the special moments of an engagement in Tuscany, a wedding in Italy or an Amalfi Coast honeymoon.

Each region is unique and a bride should take that into consideration when deciding where and when for the big day.    Rochelle says the Tuscan landscapes, orchards, vineyards and olive trees, meander through the never-ending hills, providing a real earthy theme.   The greens and gold continue into Florence where such colors are reflected in the marble inlays of the Duomo and along the Ponte Vecchio.

Rome, on the other hand, is all about architecture, the beauty of stone can offer a neutral backdrop to almost any color.  Just think how hot pink stands out against the cool colors of the ruins and the curves of the arches in the Coliseum.  (Certain locations in Rome require a permit so work with an experienced destination photographer who knows the local scene well!)

Magic of Capri

Moving south to my favorite region and the Amalfi Coast, a bride can shine with the colors of spring nearly year-round. The sea is an ever-changing pool of azure, teal and turquoise.  The orange and lemon trees and bougainvillea jump off the screen in any photo.  Rochelle suggests communicating your desires and dreams to your photographer well in advance so that the end product meets your goals.  Afterall, these photos will capture a moment in time for a lifetime.

Off the Beaten Path outside Chicago

Loopin’ around Chicago takes you to the heart of the Windy City but jump aboard the Green Line and you’ll find yourself in the not-so-tourist-trodden suburb of Oak Park.  It was the home of noted American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his evolution of an entire neighborhood is but one offering in this small suburb.

Unity TempleVisitors can stroll down Lake Street and see the Art Deco era still evident in the offices and shops, and the quaint Lake Street cinema.  There are restaurants to suit every taste and I was quite happy with Khyber Pass for an Indian lunch.

You can also drop by the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway and shop till you drop away from the high end prices of Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue.
