Haunting Photography of Another Time!

I may be a writer first but photographer is a close second.  It harkens back to my days in the pits of too many rock concerts.  Anyway, I am always scoping out photographers and discovered Kim Zier, who happens to be a Jersey Girl.  Let’s call it photographic kismet that I found her just before Halloween.  You see, Kim’s photos drew me in because they are quite haunting images of places I have visited during many solo journeys, evoking stories and tales from the great beyond.

Kim is a true artist.  She has not studied professionally, so her art is born out of her passion and lives in her soul.  “I’m sure, like most, I am an emotionally driven artist,” she says.  “I have a photo journalistic philosophy with a creative spin.”

I wondered if Kim had an artistic vision of a site or landmark while photographing it but she said no.  “I see the photo as a canvas.  Photoshop and other editing programs are my brushes to create something that is uniquely my own.  I let the image inspire my imagination and see where it takes me…it’s always a surprise.”
