Spa Spotlight – A Prince of a Spa Shines in Rome

I have often found big city spas to be less than adequate at making you feel truly pampered and enabling you to escape the stress of life in the big city, in this case Rome. So, to say that I was pleasantly surprised upon entering the luxury environs of the Prince Spa (Via G. Frescobaldi 5, Roma) is an understatement.

Prince Spa RomeI arrived sufficiently early to enjoy the spa’s Wet Room before my scheduled massage.  It was like entering the private relaxation cave of an emperor. The infinity pool is ever changing, as chroma therapy washes over you.

You can alternate between an invigorating lap swim and a relaxing soak in a Prince spa fountainsheated jacuzzi, followed by a muscle thrashing under a pulsating waterfall shower…and you never have to get out of the water to float from one activity to the next.  This spa junkie, as I have been affectionately labeled by one spa owner, has never seen anything like this.  If I could, I would definitely install a Wet Room in my own home, along with the muscular descendant of a Roman god to serve as my lifeguard.  Hey, you might as well dream big, right?

Both before and after my aquatic-chromatic experience, I also indulged in a dream-like lounge on an underwater chaise.  Yes, the chairs are also built right into this aquatic retreat and you never have to get out of the water. Awesome, just awesome!

The locker rooms offer separate sauna and steam rooms for men and women, along with robes, slippers, hair dryers and everything you would need to totally primp as a travel diva.

As to the massage therapist, she had hands of gold. Elizabeth kneaded away whatever knots had not been previously loosened in the Wet Room.  I do not hesitate to say that the ancient gods would smile upon the Prince Spa at Rome’s Parco dei Principi Hotel.
