I have written about Spa La Serra before but travel experiences which are consistently excellent are worth repeating, especially for new luxury travelers. Located in the five-star Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento, La Serra is stellar in its own right.
From the moment you are greeted, stress goes out the door and the busy traffic of Piazza Tasso is a silent memory. This is a little haven amid the hotel’s lush gardens and each treatment room has its own changing room, shower and private garden for guest relaxation.
My first visit this trip was for the green tea and caffeine body sculpting treatment. Rosaria carefully scrubbed and wrapped me in a special formula which I was sure would melt away my cellulite. I had started dieting before arriving in Italy but I swear the caffeine of this treatment and its thermal accelerating properties continued the process. So much so that Rosaria recommended my new best friend, the sarto, tailor, who had to alter all of my jeans, yeah!
Next up was an anti-aging facial and acupressure massage from Serena. It was pleasant and my skin looked nice but I can’t say that years melted off the way the inches did with the green coffee. I continue to try new facial treatments, always hoping to discover their benefit; however, that has yet to happen with the exception of a Japanese therapist in New York whose acupressure technique does make me look better……at least for 48 hours.
As for Spa La Serra, when visiting Sorrento, ignore all of those hotel concierges who advise you to visit a local gym for a massage because it’s cheaper. La Serra is a travel luxury worthy of indulgence. The therapists are top-notch and receptionist, Rozanne, welcomes you, even without a pre-booked reservation. In Sorrento, spas don’t get any better than Spa La Serra.
