When it’s nice to roam home in Rome!

When you travel as much as I do, there are certain places which are like going home and in Rome, for me, that is the 47 Hotel (Via Luigi Petroselli 47).  I first discovered it by chance as an Expedia favorite pick when booking a trip for myself and a friend….now I return at least once a year.

The location is perfetto. It’s a 20 minute walk to the Colisseum.  The rear of the Foro Romano can be seen from the back of the hotel and there are no less than four ancient sites within steps of the lobby.

More important is how the staff treats you, always like a returning friend.  This trip they even had my favorite room ready.  When you stay at a place often enough, they get to know your likes and dislikes and The 47 keeps them in mind.

A wonderful breakfast buffet is included with most room rates and the hotel’s in-room amenities are wonderful and ultra modern.  If you walk the halls you are surrounded by a wonderful 20th century art collection including the likes of Umberto Mastroianni, Emilio Greco, Amedeo Modigliani, Narcissus Quagliata and Piero Guccione, which highlight the hotel’s decor.  There’s a small but adequate fitness center and steam room downstairs…and if you arrive before your room is ready, as is often the case with trans-Atlantic flights, there is a shower and locker room area where you may freshen up before tackling a morning in Rome.

The rooftop Circus restaurant is a bit pricey but when you are in the heart of Rome, which is filled with tourist menu restaurants, you don’t mind paying for quality (more to come on Circus a presto!)

The 47 Hotel is a member of the Preferred Group of hotels and as a frequent guest, you receive tiny surprises in your room no matter the location anywhere in the world.  As an Italy travel concierge, I visit and enjoy many properties  - just one of the perks of luxury travel.  As a frequent solo traveler, I always enjoy feeling right at home in Rome.

Accommodations provided by 47Hotel.
