Sunday Soul is all about finding that special place that gives you solace within, the place where you can escape and explore, even when you are flying solo. Today’s guest writer is Andi Perullo, a fellow wanderlust sister and a synergistic spirit.
Usually the first question I am asked once a person discovers that I am a frequent traveler is, “Where is your favorite place.” This is such a difficult question for me to answer, as each place I visit touches my heart in a special way. I suppose if someone were to hold a gun to my head while asking the question, I would probably say the answer is New York City or Buenos Aires, depending on my mood in that moment, but last week I returned from Ibiza and surprisingly it left quite an impression on me. So, if you find yourself alone one Sunday on the glorious island, the following is what I suggest you do.
Make sure on Saturday to call The Blue Marlin and rent a sunbed for the next day. Sundays are THE day for this super stylish beach club and sunbeds are impossible to rent the day of. Once you awake on Sunday, which will probably be later in the day since you most likely went out dancing until early in the morning, the first thing you should do after having a cup of coffee or a Mimosa is to rent a scooter. It will cost you around €30 and it is worth every penny. Forget renting a car, because where is the fun in that? Once you have your scooter, head towards The Blue Marlin but keep your eyes open for several gorgeous, secluded beaches along the way. Unfortunately, you will not find street signs for them, but they will be marked on the local maps, which can be found all over the island. Make sure to wear your best swim suit, as the people who frequent The Blue Marlin dress to impress. By the time you arrive, the DJ and the sun will both be out in full force. Find your sunbed, order a pitcher of sangria and the fish of the day, and relax into pure tranquility. Around 8PM, the sun will still be out, but it will be about time to scooter back to your hotel, so that you will not have drive in the dark. As you get ready for dinner, again choose your best outfit to wear. No matter how expensive the restaurant, people dress up in Ibiza!
Depending on your budget there are 2 excellent restaurants. If you are trying to watch what you spend, head to The Plaza. It is located right on the marina and you can dine al fresco, with a wonderful view of all of the yachts. A pizza will cost you €9. If money is not an option or you simply want to indulge, head to B.For for some of the most delicious sushi your mouth will ever taste. As you finish your meal, I promise you will reflect on your solo travel day and realize that it was one of the most memorable of your life to date!
