Often the best meals happen by chance and so it was with Donna Rosa in Positano. There are many, many restaurants in this tiny Amalfi Coast village, hidden up in the hills or down on the beach. However, during the off-season, many of them close early or remain closed altogether.
We didn’t think 9pm on a Thursday night in April would be considered the off-season but we drove into the hills and realized that everything was closed except for Donna Rosa. So, like a light in the night she called to us and what a lovely surprise.
Donna Rosa is an elegant, small ristorante tucked away on Via Montepertuso 97/99. The tables were covered with linen and the dining room is light and airy, even during the evening hours. As for the food, delicioso is the only word that comes to mind. We split a seafood pasta dish and a platter of assorted meat and the portions were too much to even squeeze in dessert but I will next time. Donna Rosa’s also offers an extensive wine list for such a small tiny gem, boasting 400 Italian and foreign labels. You may dine either inside or outdoors but just know that in the heat of an August day, they are only open for dinner.

This looks and sounds fabulous. I may have to stop by next month
