I have been having snow much fun during this week’s New York blizzard. Getting out into the woods; venturing to the beach; and exploring nature with my camera. Single women travelers will often just stay rooted in the Big Apple when they visit and who can blame them? New York City has a lot to offer. However, during a weekend storm, when the train’s are still running, it’s worth it to hop on board and saunter out to the ‘burbs. In 30-45 minutes you are in a winter wonderland and most of the time there is plenty to do within a 10 minute walk of the local train station.

- solo travel to Rye Playland
Rye, New York offers a stroll along a snow-covered beach, although you’ll have to grab a cab from the station to Playland Amusement Park and the neighboring beach but it’s only a 5 minute ride. Of course, the park is closed for the season right now but the old-fashioned ice-rink is open and it’s usually packed. The town itself offers the usual Starbucks, Cosi and other local, great eateries, as well boutiques and gift shops to loll away the hours.
