Frugal Friday – One Tank Solo Hop from Sacramento to Frisco

Frugal Friday this week finds California girls taking a one-tank trip from Sacramento to San Francisco.  If you leave early enough in the morning you can catch the most beautiful sight, as the morning fills with hot air balloons heading out over wine country.  The drive is about an 85 mile (90 minute) straight shot on US-50W to I-80W, and on a Saturday morning there is no traffic.

I stayed at the Marriott Hotel in Union Square, which places you in close proximity to everything but check for a great 4-star deal on Priceline.

Frisco has much more shopping to offer than sleepy Sacramento and there is always Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz and Chinatown, not to mention the zoo and.  And for brunch, why not head to a winery?  All this on one tank of gas.  I’m tempted to fly to the left coast right now.

TOURIST TIP: If you’re headed there this weekend, check out my friend’s band – they rock and they’re giving a FREE concert.  The Ruse take the stage at 3p in Justin Herman Plaza as part of the The Radio Shack Summer Netogether.
