Only in New York City does a week last 19 days and only in New York City can you dine at some of the finest restaurants anywhere at a fraction of the normal cost. It’s restaurant week. It happens every summer and this year it will last through July 31st. The lunches and dinners are generally three courses and range from about $24 – $35 and at these restaurants, trust me, that is a Frugal Friday break.
Some restaurants throughout the city offer prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner. Some of my favorites include :
2. Bice (Midtown East)- their “Paglia e Fieno” pasta is not always on the menu but ask for it and see if they’ll make it for you because it is to die for.
3. Dawat for Indian (Midtown East)
4. Firebird (Theater District) – one of the most romantic on this list (but see The River Cafe below)
5. Naples 45 (right inside Grand Central)
6.The River Cafe (Brooklyn) just for the view alone, not to mention the extra special Chocolate Marquise Brooklyn Bridge
7.The Sea Grill (Rockfeller Center) with skating rink views
And to be the proverbial icing on this list of frugal edibles, make your reservations for these restaurants athrough OpenTable.com and earn frequent dining points. Open Table includes hundreds of restaurants throughout the country and in some foreign countries as well. Hey, points are points! Buon appetito!
